Key Stage One
Form I study the elements from the National Curriculum for Key Stage One. We teach English and Mathematics daily, with an additional focus on spelling and grammar. Form I follow the Read Write Inc scheme and all the girls read with a member of staff regularly. The girls all receive a reading book daily and we ask that parents read with their daughter each day for a short time (10 minutes).
Creative activities are planned in order to ensure all learning styles are catered for.
Our foundation subjects consist of Science, Physical Education, Humanities (Geography or History), Music, PSHE, Religious Studies and French. In Music lessons the girls learn how to play the ocarina, a small wind instrument with simple fingering and this leads on to the recorder which is taken up in Form II. In Form I the girls start their swimming lessons which continue until Form VI.
Every half term, a new and exciting topic will be studied and termly outings are made to reinforce this topic work. During the autumn term, Form I will perform a wonderful Harvest Assembly and during Christmas, Junior House work together to create an outstanding nativity that is not to be missed! In the spring term, Form I will practice and perform their very own class assembly which will focus on a specific topic or event.
As well as supervised care from 7.30am, we offer extended After School Care to 6.00pm.
