Reception Class Coffee Morning

This morning, Reception Class invited family and friends to hear their lovely singing, followed by morning coffee and lots of cake.  If we were really lucky, we got to hold a newly hatched baby duckling!  It was the loveliest celebration which really put us in the mood for Easter. Thank you so much to all our parents and
brother and sisters who came to support us and to Mrs McGreevy, Miss McGreevy and Mrs Cooper for organising such an amazing morning and for baking such yummy cakes!

Isle of Wight Residential Trip

FV and FVI have had the most wonderful time on the Isle of Wight this week, playing games, kayaking, paddleboarding, team building, learning all about dinosaurs and lots more — all in blazing sunshine.  Thank you so much to Mrs Wilson, Mrs Brooks, Mrs Riddick and Miss Parker for organising this amazing trip.

FIV Assembly

This morning, FIV led a very powerful and thought-provoking assembly.  The message was clear: we must accept  ourselves for who we are and that there are  some things about ourselves that we cannot change.  The important thing is that we must never, ever give up because we know that if we work hard and if we keep trying, we will achieve our goals.  Our girls remembered all their lines and their dancing was worthy of the West End.  Thank you Mrs Hammond, Mrs Mannooch and girls for such a wonderful assembly and to our parents who came to support us.

Junior House visit Hampton Court

FI & FII had a wonderful time yesterday at historic Hampton Court.  We learned a Tudor Dance, we visited the Great Hall where a Tudor feast, fit for a King was laid out, we learned to ride a horse, Tudor-style and we went into the Chapel where King Henry VIII got married. We had an amazing day. Thank you to all the Junior House teachers and staff who organised this wonderful trip for us.

Senior House Spring Concert

All those present at last night’s Spring Concert will, I am sure, agree that it was a joy from beginning to end.  That so many pupils “put themselves out there” to play intricate individual pieces (or in one case a delightful duet) and rose to the challenge of public performance, says so much about their character. It was also very well attended by families – hardly an available seat – and with the astonishing variety of talented instrumentalists and singers made for a captivating evening.  A huge thank-you to all the staff present, the accompanists, the glorious playing of Mrs Freeman and Miss Tovey for administering the concert from start to finish and producing the programme.

Seaton House celebrates Comic Relief Day

Today we celebrated Red Nose Day in aid of Comic Relief. Form II led the most amazing assembly which taught us to appreciate everything we have and to recognise how lucky we are. Every single girl remembered her lines and the words to every song. Thank you to Mrs Smith and Mrs Budgett for organising such a lovely assembly and to all our parents who contributed cakes for our cake sale and came to support us and to donate to this very worthwhile cause. FII are delighted to report that, so far, they have raised a whopping £475.64! Well done girls!

Seaton House Mini Marsden March

We did it! We didn’t just reach our target — we smashed it.— raising a staggering £2,725! This afternoon, in memory of Mrs Sallie Lunn, a much loved teacher at this school, every single one of us walked from Seaton House to the Royal Marsden Hospital to raise vital funds to help beat cancer. Thank you so much to all our parents, staff and pupils for supporting us today. Huge thanks to Mrs Hossenbux and to our amazing POSH team for organising this wonderful event. There is still time to donate — please click on the link below to push our total even higher.

Form VI Poetry Competition

Today, Form VI showed their mettle and each gave a unique performance of their chosen poem. The standard was incredibly high, with poems of various lengths and complexity and memorable moments from each and every delivery. Words stood in the air, rhymes and rhythms chimed and the afternoon was a real celebration of what pupils can achieve when they put their minds to it. Congratulations to all of them. Many thanks to Liz Williams who kindly adjudicated.

Form V Take Part in Purley Swimathon

Very well done to our amazing team of FV swimmers who, between them, managed to swim a staggering 134 lengths – 3,350 metres – during the Purley Rotary Swimathon last Saturday. This means that each girl swam at least 558 metres. Half way through the 55 minute swim the girls felt tired and their ears hurt but did they stop? No, they actually picked up the pace and swam even faster to raise money for charity. Well done girls – you all showed true Seaton House Spirit and we are very proud of you.

World Book Day

On Thursday, we celebrated World Book Day. Each class was designated an author and we dressed as our favourite characters from our chosen books. We participated in lots of activities and held a whole school assembly at the end of the day to showcase everything we had learned. Huge thanks to Mrs Riddick for organising such a wonderful day and also to Nick and Hannah from Love Theatre Arts who created mini productions for each class to perform.
