On Saturday 23rd June, we held our annual Summer Fete. Thanks to POSH, who worked tirelessly to transform our field into a scene from the Wild West, we dressed up as cowboys – and girls! – we rode on the bucking bronco, we explored the visiting fire engine and learned what it is like to be a firefighter, we held a bake-off competition and we demonstrated our gymnastic and musical theatre skills. It was a wonderful afternoon and the weather was perfect. Thank you so much to all our parents and to the staff at Seaton House who worked so hard to put on such a fantastic afternoon.
This morning, Junior House held their annual Sports Day on the field. The weather was perfect. We had so much fun on space hoppers, sack racing, sprinting and doing obstacle races. Thank you so much to Miss Parker for organising such a fun-filled and exciting event, to all the staff who came to help, to all the parents who came to cheer us on and to our FVI girls who helped to look after the JH little ones throughout the morning.
Friday night was Royal Wedding Disco Night at Seaton House. We wore our best princess outfits, we had our nails done and we donned our tiaras for an event that would make the Royal Family proud!
Form II really got into the spirit of the Royal Wedding today and had lots of fun making crowns, masks and bunting and practising our royal wave. We had a lovely day.
Seaton House has been fundraising for Sport Relief all this week this week and have participated in some fun activities: hula hooping, skipping, Boogie Thursday and Footie Friday. FIII – FV also took part in today’s Sport Relief Challenge at the swimming pool. They participated in wiggle races and hunting for sinkies and loose change and using the floating mats! Great fun, for a fantastic cause. Thank you to everyone who has supported our fundraising activities this week.
Today was DT Day. We were engineers – we learned to build pyramids and how to make a marble run. We built structures with straws and made bridges and cake stands. We faced cardboard box challenges and enjoyed learning how to successfully package chocolates. It was a wonderful day. Thank you Mrs Baker.
We did it! We have smashed this year’s target £2,018 and have raised an incredible £3,079, with more pledges to come. Thank you so much to parents, family and friends who have donated to this worthwhile cause and left those vital messages of support for our girls. Every pupil, from Lower Nursery to FVI, has participated in this event to help raise money to beat cancer. The rain did not dampen our spirits as we walked together to the Royal Marsden Hospital. Every penny, every small step counts. Thank you to every pupil for participating and to all the parents who turned out to help this morning and accompanied us on our march and to the staff who coordinated this amazing event. Thank you everyone.
Today is World Thinking Day. This morning, all of our pupils who belong to the Rainbows, Brownies, Guides or Scouts came to school in their uniforms. Mrs Bolton led a wonderful, informative and interactive assembly about World Thinking Day. The theme for this year is ‘Impact’. We learned about the importance of friendship and how one kind deed each day can positively impact the lives of everyone around us. The girls told us why they love being part of their uniformed groups and renewed their promise. Thank you Mrs Bolton for such a fantastic assembly that certainly had a positive impact on everyone there.
On Friday morning, Form I held their assembly in the hall. The girls told us all about the Chinese New Year, which will be celebrated this year on 16th February. Chinese New Year is celebrated for 15 days with fireworks, coloured lanterns, dragon parades and delicious food. Each Chinese New Year is named after an animal – this year will be the Year of the Dog. In days gone by, twelve animals were arguing noisily because they each believed that the new year should be named after them. To settle the argument, the Chinese Gods asked the animals to swim across the river and awarded the honour to the winner – the Rat. Each new year after that was awarded to the animals in the order that they completed the race. Very well done to the girls for this wonderful and informative assembly. Thank you to all the parents who came to watch and to Mrs Simpson and Mrs Budgett for helping us to put on such a fantastic performance.
